Essential Preventative Care
It’s easy to put off dental checkups. You may brush your teeth morning and night and avoid sugar. Toothaches or bleeding gums might not affect you. If you don’t have any problems, you may think there’s no point in having a checkup.
But most dental problems are avoidable. If we catch the early signs of decay or gum disease before symptoms emerge, stopping them from worsening is much easier. If we can treat problems at this stage, it means avoiding complex or expensive treatments and restorations later.
We advise that every member of your family should come and see us for a checkup every six months.
What to Expect From Your Routine Checkup
Before examining your teeth and gums, we’ll discuss your oral health worries. Next, we’ll check for signs of cavities and gum disease. Your routine checkup also provides the opportunity to screen for oral cancer.
During your appointment, we may take X-rays. These images allow us to check for bone loss, look at how your teeth align, and see any other abnormalities.
We typically recommend a filling to repair the damage if we spot a cavity.
After your appointment, we’ll suggest how soon you should see us for your next checkup.
