TRADITIONAL BRIDGES
A traditional bridge comprises a substitute tooth, known as a ‘pontic’, connected on both sides by two dental crowns. These crowns are attached to healthy teeth. Bridges are crafted from porcelain and metal materials that allow us to fashion flawless replacements for your absent teeth.
CANTILEVER BRIDGES
When replacing a tooth with only one adjacent tooth, we opt for a cantilever bridge. These bridges feature a pontic joined to one crown, which is placed onto the healthy tooth.
MARYLAND BRIDGES
Unlike cantilevers and traditional bridges, Maryland bridges rely on metal wings affixed behind the adjoining teeth. This innovative approach offers a swift and sturdy restoration solution.

BRIDGE DESIGN AND PREPARATION
Like a real bridge, we need to create a detailed design for your bespoke restoration before our master technician can build it. In addition to the meticulous planning, we’ll need to lay the foundations for your new smile. This may mean preparing your supporting teeth by removing a thin enamel layer to make space for your crowns.
THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
After our lab technician has skillfully crafted your bridge; we can try it out. We can bond it to your teeth once we’re happy that it sits comfortably.

What is a bridge?
A dental bridge is constructed from hand crafted crowns that are held together by a sub-structure to replace multiple missing teeth. Bridges can close the gap left by one or more missing teeth, restoring the look of your smile and redistributing the workload more evenly. In some cases, we might suggest an artificial tooth implanted right into your jawbone
How many appointments do I need?
You will require two visits two weeks apart. At the first visit, the tooth is prepared by removing the old filling and the decay to allow space for the crown to fit onto. Photos of the teeth are taken and sent to our master cosmetic technician which allows him to construct the highest quality crown to match your teeth for a more natural look. A high-quality temporary crown is then constructed. At the second visit, the temporary crown is removed and the high-quality permanent crown is cemented in place.
What types of crown are there?
We often provide metal free crowns for a superior aesthetics result. Some of the materials we use are Empress, Procera and LAVA. Each type of material is used depending on the patient’s bite and aesthetics
How long does a crown last?
If looked after properly, they can last many years.
