Many adults suffor from heartburn. Some people do not have any symptoms, but your dentist can tell. Acid from the stomach backs up into the mouth not only leaving a bad taste, but can also damage the enamel of your teeth.
Chronic heartburn sufferers will often have the back surface of their enamel on the teeth eroded away by the acid.
This enamel wear can cause

Other causes of enamel wear can be:
- excessive consumption of fizzy or acidic drinks, such as juices
