Cosmetic dental crowns and caps at the Dental Suite Leicester Birstall Loughborough

This is a patient who we saw recently, whose complaint was that his crowns done by his previous dentist were unacceptable. At the initial consultation, we carried out a detailed examination and xrays to check the health of the underlying teeth.
On examination, we noticed that his gums were inflamed and his gums were bleeding due to the design and poor fitting of the crowns. If this was left like this , then this would have caused irreversible damage to health of the gums. We discussed this would be initially treated by seeing our experienced hygienist, Rebecca. It was explained that healthy gums are essential before carrying out any cosmetic work.
Many patients are not aware about the different types of veneers and crowns available. The quality of crowns and veneers are dictated by the following
- The skill level of the dentist
- The technical and artistic ability of the technician in creating crowns and veneers which look like teeth. That is why in all my cosmetic work I use a master ceramist who I have developed a great working relationship with . It is easy to make cheap crowns or veneers, if we use cheap and inexperienced technicians, which will lead to inferior results.
- The materials used for the particular case. Each case is different and it is important that the right material is used for that particular case to achieve a great and lasting result. poor material choice will lead to a poor unnatural result.
With this particular patient our technician and I decided EMAX crowns would allow us to obtain an acceptable result.
At the first appointment the existing crowns were removed and and underlying teeth were cleaned up prior to the impressions for the new crowns. The patient had great looking temporary crowns for two weeks , to allow us to improve the gum health.
The next step was for the patient to see our master technician. This is an important step for all our patients who have cosmetic dentistry at the Dental Suite. 30 minutes was spent with the technician, to carry out a computer shade match and a discussion about the shape of the teeth.
The high quality crowns were fitted and I feel we achieved a great result for the patient.
