What is Enlighten?
Enlighten is a new whitening system originating from the States which has taken the US and UK by a storm. Enlighten has become very popular because it can whiten even the darkest of teeth! The makers of the product guarantee that a B1 shade (the whitest shade on a dental shade guide) can be achieved with Enlighten gels.
How does it differ from other types of teeth whitening?
The main reason Enlighten is superior to other whitening systems is that it can whiten even the most discoloured teeth. Enlighten can achieve such shades of white because of the unique design of the whitening trays. These trays are made in such a way that the gel is in tight contact with the teeth. This tight fit of the trays also eliminates the risk of saliva contamination.
How does it work?
At the first appointment, we will take a mould of your teeth and send it to the lab. The lab will then construct special whitening trays made to fit only your teeth. You will then be seen at the practice a week later when we will provide you with the trays and the gel and for through the whitening process with you. You will have to wear the trays with the gel for 14 consecutive nights, whilst sleeping. On the 15th day, you will be seen at the practice again for the final stage of the whitening, which involves 40 min in surgery Zoom whitening.
What are the most common side effects?
Some people may suffer from sensitivity. We will provide you with some swabs to help reduce sensitivity during treatment.
How do I maintain my teeth white?
We recommend you wear your trays with the gel at least one night every 4 months to maintain the results.
