We get lot of emails from people asking us what is the best treatment for chipped teeth following trauma. We just recently had a patient who had chipped two of her front teeth after falling over whilst shopping in Leicester city centre.
First of all, the most important thing is to inform your dentist of the exact circumstances of the trauma received. If the broken tooth was caused by being hit or by falling over, it is very important that the dentist assesses the tooth and takes an xray if necessary to exclude root fracture and that there is no infection in the root.
once the health of the tooth has been ascertained, we can start thinking about how to restore it.
The options are:
- composite white fillings
- porcelain veneers
-porcelain crowns
We can tell our patients what the most suitable form of treatment is after carrying out the above assessments and the choice of restoration also depends on the extent of the tooth fracture.

Dental Implants are a fantastic way of replacing missing teeth. Success rates are high when carried out by an experienced surgeon, but to ensure that the long term success of dental implants stays high, it is imperative to maintain a high standard of oral hygiene.
We advise all our patients to regularly see the hygienist and to brush, floss their teeth and use moutwash. This same advice is given to our implant patients as well.
Once implant treatment has been completed, Kal and Rebecca will show our patients how to maintain their oral health and how to look after their implants. Implants need looking after just as much as natural teeth. We also advice patients to use Waterpik, a fantastic tool to clean under the implant crowns and bridges.

Here at the Dental Suite we have been offering our patients acrylic mouthguards (Occlusal Splins) for many years. Kal has trained extensively worldwide in this subject under the supervision of the top dentists in the field .
When are mouthguards necessary?
- if you have a habit of grinding your teeth or clenching your jaw muscles
- if you are having extensive restorative dentistry, to protect crowns and veneers
- if you have jaw joint problems
- if you suffer from headaches
- in some cases, after orthodontic treatment
Mouthguards (known as Occlusal Splints) have been proved to be very effective in treating all of the above
What does treatment involve. At the first appointment, we will be studying your bite very carefully and will take accurate moulds of your top and bottom teeth and record the way you bite together. The lab will then construct a hard mouthguard (splint) which will be adjusted at the second appointment when the splint is fitted. Further review appointments will be required to monitor progress and to carry out any necessary adjustments.

At our practice, we focus a lot on gum health. This is because gums are the foundation of our teeth and therefore. Without healthy gums, there would be no beautiful straight teeth!
We therefore advise all our patients to see our fantastic Hygienist Rebecca Muir. She is gentle but yet very thorough. She is also great at educating our patients and teaching them how to maintain their gum health when at home and between hygienist visit.
At the Dental Suite in Loughborrough, we know that professional cleans are very important, but this would not be as effective without meticulous home maintenance.
Come and see our excellent hygienist for your gum treatment!

We completed our charity walk in aid of the Mouth Cancer Foundation last Saturday, 20th September 2008 in London’s Hyde Park. It was a great experience for us and we were really lucky that it was a beautiful sunny day. The atmosphere was great and we met lots of amzing people and survivors of this debilitating disease.
We have so far raised over £500.00 and we would like to say thanks to patients, family and friends for donating money to this worthy cause. We are still accepting donations until 30th November and we are hoping to double the money by then. So please donate online on www.justgiving.com/thedentalsuite or at the practice.
THANK YOU!!!!!!

We have been offering the Inman Aligner at our practice for a while and we were proud to be the first practice in Leicester to offer the Inman Aligner.
Since we were the first practice to offer it in our area we have been inundated with patients from all over the Midlands, from Ravenshead to Burton upon Trent.
The Inman aligner is a great way of treating crooked teeth as it straightens teeth quickly and it is hardly noticeable when worn.
The Inman Aligner is a removable brace that can straighten crowded front teeth. We just finished treatment on a patient and the treatment took less than 3 months!
Gone are the days when it would take years to straighten teeth!

We have been offering botox and dermal fillers at our practice for a while now. We have a lot of happy patients who have had great results with both forms of treatments.
Botox can iron out frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet
Fillers can improve the appearance of most lines and wrinkles, not just smile lines, smokers lines or marionette lines.
Fillers can plump up lips, re-define jaw lines and cheekbones
