Six Month Smiles/6 Month Braces at the Dental Suite

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Six month braces/6 month smiles treatment is a great way of creating a beautiful straight smile in only a few months. Since we are the first practice in the Uk to offer this treatment, we have a wealth of experience in this field and have treated many cases so far.

An example of what can be achieved with 6 month braces is shown in the photos below. This lovely lady was unhappy about the appearance of her crowded teeth and decided to come to us to have the crowding corrected. The treatment took 6 and half months. She was fitted with fixed and removable retainers at the end of the 6 month braces treatment.

Inman Aligner at the Dental Suite

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Below are the photos of a recently completed Inman aligner case.
This lovely lady had braces when she was younger but unfortunately her teeth relapsed because  she did not wear a retainer. She decided to straighten her teeth and she came to see us about this. She had mild crowding of her top front teeth and she was offered the options of traditional orthodontics, invisalign, 6 month smiles or the Inman aligner. The patient decided to go for the Inman aligner. She had to wear the Inman aligner for at least 16 hours a day and the teeth straightened in only 4 months! Once treatment was complete the patient was provided with a fixed retainer and a removable retainer as well.

Fast Braces

Monday, May 4th, 2009

The following patient attended our clinic after he suffered trauma to his front tooth. This trauma had caused the tooth to move inwards which affected the smile. After speaking about the options, he wished to straighten his smile by the “six month smiles” programme. Actually this treatment was completed in 5 MONTHS! The patient was fitted a fixed retainer to ensure teeth would not move after removal of the braces.

Closing a gap between teeth with Invisalign

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that aims at straightening crooked or gappy teeth.

There are different types of orthodontic treatment that are available at our practice:

- Invisalign

- cleastep

- 6 months smiles

-inman aligner
We have recently completed an Invisalign case where we were treating gappy teeth. The patient did not like the gap between his top two front teeth. The patient had to wear the invisalign aligners for only 4 months and the gap closed really quickly. He is now wearing  a permanent bonded retainer ( a thin metal wire bonded at the back of his teeth) and a removable clear retainer to ensure that the teeth do not relapse.

If you are not an ideal candidate for Invisalign, we may be able to offer you alternative treatments such as clearstep or 6 month smiles.

Retainers

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

We see a lot of new patients wanting to straigthten their teeth. Many travel from nearby Leicester, Derby or Nottingham. Many others come all the way from Southamptom. A lot of these patients had braces when they were younger but the teeth relapsed into their original position few years later. This happens when retainers are not worn after finishing orthodontic treatment.

We tell all our patients wanting to have their teeth straightened that they have to wear retainers for the rest of their life if they want their teeth to stay straight.

The common questions we get are:

What type of retainers are there?

- removable retainers are clear plastic trays which are similar to the invisalign aligners.

-fixed retainers are a small wire bonded to the back to the back of the teeth

How long  to I have to wear them for?

- we advise lifetime wear

why do I have to wear retainers?

during orthodontic treatment, new bone is deposited and the ligament around the teeth is remodelling. Retention allows to stabilise the position of the teeth while the bone matures and the ligament remodels.
