No more Missing teeth with Dental Implants at the Dental Suite Leicester Loughborough

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Dental Implants are an excellent alternative to dentures or bridges to replace missing teeth. Dental implants can be placed to replace a  single tooth or multiple missing teeth.

The patient below had fractured his upper central incisor and was referred by his dentist for an implant. The patient did not wish a denture or a bridge and really wanted a dental implant. A high quality Implant was placed and a high quality cosmetic porcelain crown was fitted on the implant. The result was excellent and the crown looked very natural, which the patient was really happy about.

Single Dental Implant

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

The general public is becoming more and more aware about the great advantages of dental implants in replacing missing teeth. We see many patients from local areas, such as Birstall, Thurmaston, Sileby and from further away areas such as Northampton or Peterborough, coming to us asking for dental implants.

We recently saw this patient who had a single dental implant to replace a missing teeth. She did not want a plate and did not want a bridge as did not want to have her healthy adjacent teeth cut down.  An Astra Implant was used and it was restored with a high quality porcelain bonded to gold crown.

Implant retained dentures

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Fed up of having loose dentures? Fed up of having to use messy glues to keep your dentures in? Why not consider having implant-retained dentures?

This treatment consists in having 4-6 implants per jaw and then placing a bar or some metal attachments on the implants and in this way the dentures can securely and tightly clip onto the implants. This will allow a very tight fit of the dentures.

Our dentist, Dr Kalpesh Bohara, recently completed this type of treatment on a patient from Nottingham. This pleasant lady had been wearing dentures for many years and was complaining about their looseness. She ended up having implants onto which a bar was attached allowing the upper denture to clip onto the bar. The results were excellent and the patients was extremely happy.

Demi Moore’s missing tooth

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I recently came across this photo that Demi Moore put on her Twitter page , http://twitpic.com/5pcay

Demi is lying on her dentist’s chair waiting to have her upper right crown to be replaced. Not all celebrities will  show their imperfections, but it is great to see that Demi, like all of us as dental problems.

There are ways of replacing missing teeth and we can help fit all budgets and the options are a denture, a bridge or an implant.

denture-retained implants

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Dental Implants are a fantastic treatment option to replace missing teeth.

The benefits of implants are:

- good retention of a crown/bridge/denture

-maintain bone

We are aware that not everyone can afford having full mouth implants to replace all their missing teeth. Therefore one of the options we can offer is denture-retained implants.

This type of treatment is great because

- it can suit your budget

- it will greatly improve the fit of your loose dentures

- it will maintain your bone height

This treatment involves placement of about 4 implants on your top or bottom jaw and then a denture is made to clip onto the implants.

why do dentists take xrays?

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Sometimes new patients ask us why they need an x-ray.

At our practice in the East Midlands, we have two types of x-ray machines. One machine gives a full view of the whole mouth and jaws, while the other gives us a more detailed view of just a few teeth at a time.

X-rays are really important because:

- we can assess the presence of decay

-we can assess presence of infections

- we can assess presence or abscence of teeth in the growing child

- we can assess the gum health and bone levels

- we can assess the position of the implants placed by our surgeon

All of these factors are really important in treatment planning, so that we can ascertain that teeth and gums are healthy prior to commencing cosmetic or orthodontic treatment. X-rays helps us diagnosing dental problems that cause pain as we can idenity sources of infection.

X-rays are taken by us only when clinically necessary.

Implants to replace broken tooth

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Implants are a fantastic way of replacing missing teeth. They can be used to replace one or more teeth.

People of all ages, from 18 to 80 years of age, from nearby and further away towns, like Shepshed, Nottingham or Chester, come to see us to have dental implants.

An example of a recently completed case is shown below.

This student came in straight after breaking his tooth during a sporting accident. His upper right central incisor was broken off and his upper left central incisor was badly fractured as well and required extraction. The implants were placed and left to integrate in the bone for 2 months. In the meantime, the patient was wearing a denture. Once the implants were integrated, high quality porcelain crowns were constructed and then fitted.

So, if you have a missing tooth or more than one, why not come in for a consultation to find out what we can do for you.

Maintenance of Dental Implants

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Dental Implants are a fantastic way of replacing missing teeth. Success rates are high when carried out by an experienced surgeon, but to ensure that the long term success of dental implants stays high, it is imperative to maintain a high standard of oral hygiene.

We advise all our patients to regularly see the hygienist and to brush, floss their teeth and use moutwash. This same advice is given to our implant patients as well.

Once implant treatment has been completed, Kal and Rebecca will show our patients how to maintain their oral health and how to look after their implants. Implants need looking after just as much as natural teeth. We also advice patients to use Waterpik, a fantastic tool to clean under the implant crowns and bridges.
