why visit the hygienist

Monday, May 31st, 2010

The main role of a hygiene visit is to clean your teeth professionally – this is usually called a scale and polish.
At the same visit you are shown the best way to keep your teeth free of plaque and to keep your gums healthy. Professional removal of tartar and plaque and teaching you how to prevent it from reforming again, will go a long way to slowing the progress of gum disease. A clean, fresh smile is generally a healthy smile.

At the Dental Suite, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham, we see many new patients presenting with gum disease. We put them on our Dental Suite hygiene programme to remove all the harmful deposit from under your gums to allow healing and to stabilise your gum health. Once your gums are stable we recommend you come and visit the hygienist every 3 to 6 months for 20 minutes. The added benefit of a hygienist visit is to have white, stain free teeth as well as clean and fresh breath.

We offer many plans to suit you and your lifestyle, contact us for more information

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Chipped teeth can be repaired in various ways:

- white filling

- veneers

- crowns

Veneers are thin porcelain facets that cover teeth to hide and chips, fractures or discolourations.
The picture below shows a patient of ours who wanted veneers to improve the shape and colour of his teeth. He had 6 anterior veneers and was extremely happy with the results.

Before White fillings on the laterals

Dr Kalpesh Bohara added white filling material to the peg shaped teeth initially.
