Being the first uk dentists to offer the six month smiles treatment, we have great experience in this field. We have many patients coming in every day wanting a beautiful straight smile in just a few months.

I have achieved great results with six month smiles and am glad that having braces has become so acceptable amongst adults. Is a great way to improve a smile and is also very conservative approach.

Celebrity smile makeovers

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

I really enjoy reading fashion magazines and gossip magazines when am having a break and am relaxing at weekends. They are also a great way of learning about celebrity smile makeovers.

This week I saw before and after pictures of Cheryl Cole, Kate Beckinsale and Celine Dion.

Cheryl Cole used to have prominent canines and small lateral incisors, which are now more symmetrical and proportional to each other. From the photos, it looks like she may have had veneers.

Kate Beckinsale had very yellow teeth prior to becoming a Hollywood star, and know she has a beautiful pearly white smile

Celine Dion used to have very crowded and yellow teeth, indicating she may have had braces and veneers to improve her smiles.

Getting a beautiful smile improves one’s confidence and can be lifechanging. I used to have crooked teeth and after having six month braces treatment I have now straight teeth and am proud of them and am more confident when smiling and speaking.

Dr Kalpesh Bohara on BBC radio Leicester

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

BBC radio Leicester asked Kal to come in for an interview on Wednesday 5th November to talk about cosmetic dentistry.

The radio presenter Rupal asked Kal questions on different types of cosmetic dentistry such as:

- what happens during a cosmetic consultation?

- what are veneers etc

Kal highlighted the importance of having a healthy mouth prior to undergoing any form of cosmetic dentistry. Once the mouth is healthy, then cosmetic work can be started. He stressed that a good cosmetic dentist not only will have great skills himself but will be using an excellent dental lab and the best dental materials on the market.

Kal also highlighted that we treat a lot of very nervous patients and that they do have neglected mouths due to their fear of dentists. He explained how we have been  able to treat successfully all the anxious patients we see and we have given them great smiles to be proud of and show off.

How to treat a chipped tooth

Friday, November 7th, 2008

We get lot of emails from people asking us what is the best treatment for chipped teeth following trauma. We just recently had a patient who had chipped two of her front teeth after falling over whilst shopping in Leicester city centre.

First of all, the most important thing is to inform your dentist of the exact circumstances of the trauma received. If the broken tooth was caused by being hit or by falling over, it is very important that the dentist assesses the tooth and takes an xray if necessary to exclude root fracture and that there is no infection in the root.

once the health of the tooth has been ascertained, we can start thinking about how to restore it.

The options are:

- composite white fillings

- porcelain veneers

-porcelain crowns

We can tell our patients what the most suitable form of treatment is after carrying out the above assessments and the choice of restoration also depends on the extent of the tooth fracture.
